Il comunismo (1958)
Sempre sono stato comunista.
Ma giustamente gli altri comunisti
hanno sospettato di me. Ero comunista
i miei compagni.
li allontanava da me.
necessaria,
dissolta in tempo e aria, cuori più attenti a
educare.

Communism (1958)
I always was a communist
but rightly the other communists
suspected me. I was a communist
too far beyond their certainties and my doubts.
Justly they did not recognize me.
They could not see my discipline.
My centralism seemed anarchy.
My self-criticism negated theirs.
One cannot be a special communist.
To think it means / not to be it.
Thus, justly they did not recognize me,
my comrades. Servant of Capital
I, just like they. More, in fact: because I denied it.
And they worked, while I sought my pleasure.
That's also why I always was a communist.
Too far beyond their certainties and my doubts
I always wanted that world to end.
My end as well. And this too, this especially,
distanced them from me. My hope did not help them.
My centralism seemed anarchy.
As also he, who for himself more truth desires
to be more true to others and because the others
are he himself, as they live and die.
Therefore I always was a communist.
I always wanted that world to end.
I live, I have lived enough to see,
by horrendous science stricken, the comrades who paid me.
But say: this you did know that I was one of you, isn't it true ?
For this you did hate me? Oh, my truth IS necessary,
dissolved in time and air, to educate more attentive hearts.
